Three years ago ('07), I attended the NRHS Railcamp program. The 2317 was operating on the first day I was there, but for the duration of the week we spent there, the engine was in the shop to have a bearing problem rectified. On the final day of the program, they decided to break the locomotive in on a run to Moscow, which I rode. From what I understand, that was the last time the engine was allowed to pull any out of town excursions. Even though it was just a short trip, it ranked as one of the best I've ever taken. Looking at this photo now, I feel extremely fortunate that I was able to experience this locomotive doing what she was really meant to do on the high iron. I certainly hope that, someday, I'll get another chance to hear that "Pocono Thunder." Great photo, Dennis.

Great photo! It's like the moment in "Marley and Me" when they are putting the dog down, but worse.
