These appear to be T-72s, which are Cold War-era main battle tanks. The former Soviet Union built and exported a lot of these. The US came into possession of lots of them after "Round 1" (Desert Storm). Obviously, they were studied pretty heavily before being retired to "petting zoos" at various bases around the country, where US Military Personnel could get up close and personal with the equipment of potential adversaries.

Very cool Dave. It seems you are always finding interesting stuff, whether it be these tanks or some old cab unit in Seward, to share from Alsaka.

Looks definately like a T-72 type tank. These were either obtained from Gulf War 1, the Serbian conflict, or during the break up of the Soviet Union from a breakaway country wanting to cash in on Soviet goods. they were probably used for training and targeting purposes on a range.

I would agree. those look like T72 tanks. the US captured alot of them during the last gulf war. These will probably go to a holding facility in Alabama.

I don't see the DODX on the flat car, so I assume they are retired

T-72 for sure. 41.5 tonnes, 125 mm 2A46M smoothbore gun. We may see them in a museum, or they could go on a anti-tank training facility. Nice and interesting photo

T-72s for sure, they weren't used as target practice, no holes or damage from a Dragon or AT-4 is evident. They could be heading to one of the many war museums, my guess would be Ft. Lewis, Washington or maybe to Yakima to be used as targets.

Completly agree with cavranger. As a former Abrams Tanker, i saw enough of these things in iraq in 2003. They were for sure not used as targets, yet!

Looks like the flat car has a little bit of negative camber going under the load on those tanks. I'm surprised to see them on a 4 axle car.
