Oh yeah, definitely a train wreck of a color scheme. And the logo, nothing like an arrow with no head to inspire confidence in an outfit.

The worst feature of that paint scheme is that it looks worse the dirtier it gets. PRR's "Brunswick" Green, Tuscan red and Penn Central black retained a measure of dignity when even filthy. Cruel and unusual pigmentation ran riot in the '70s. Thank God it's over.

Looking back over what now seem like SO many years, It seems perhaps "gaudy" GG1s were BETTER than NO GG1s. I agree with FrankB, those colors looked good on the RDCs.

They used to call those GG1's "bloody noses", right? "Redheads" might have been nicer.
