Hi, what is with the smaller plow and front steps added back on the ARR locos? I like those big plows.

Big plows are history....FRA rules would not permit them to be used as switching units because the big plows meant that the units only had ladders in the front and not full steps. These are much nicer for our crews and a great safety enhancement. But those old big plows were certainly unique...

Looks completely different without the towers. I will need to pay a visit to Whittier my next trip out.
