Back in the dark days of Penn Central, the Post Road track was removed, so when Amtrak took over, the Boston section of the Lake Shore would continue down the Hudson Division to Castleton, NY where it would then have to back up the Castleton Connection to reach the B&A line, until Amtrak restored the line. That connection takes Hudson Division freights across the Hudson River to access Selkirk Yard. That rail bridge lies adjacent to the New York State Thruway Bridge, a road that connects with the Massachusets Turnpike at the NY/MA State Line to reach Boston.
