The Southern also used to splice in a caboose on intermodal train 229 out of Cincinnati on most days back in the '70s. The cab marked the rear of the Chattanooga section. They pulled the pin behind the cab at Oakdale, TN, and the rear portion of the train continued to Knoxville, Asheville and points east while the front of the train continued south to Chattanooga, Atlanta and on to Jacksonville. Nice shot, by the way!
