I want to nominate the RTG for one of the more railfan oriented pieces of equipment in this world. Back when Amtrak and the country were less paranoid, it was no big deal to get a cab ride in one of these. Ride quality was better than I had expected during a trial run New Haven-Springfield back in 1974, which I got to ride gratis, as a stringer for a local art paper in a New England college town that must be left nameless. Amtrak was fun 35 years ago. Can they get that spirit back?
