Nice Marshall.

Great shot, love the smoke coming out of that thing! A couple different ways to view this in a Fantasy Perspective: 1) The old San Diego & Arizona Eastern has extended all the way to the Windy City. 2) The SP now operates revenue passenger trains under its own flag to Chicago as shown by the SP paint. There are probably other ways to look at this in a "What if" manner, but just some fun thoughts for now!

Even with the P42's in the shot this image takes you back to the glory days of Union Station seeing that E8A smoking it up. Great shot!

I've said before on the other shot, I love the AZER paint scheme on the E8. But the composition on this shot rocks ! The power of the smoke, the lines of the adjacent rails, and especially the capture of the personnel in the cab really sets this one off.

This scene reminds me of photos showing the CB&Q's California Zephyr, and Empire Builder charging out of Union Station to their respective destinations in the halcon days of passenger rail in this country.

Always heard E8's had a very different sound wish I could have been there to see this. The only E's that I've seen are the UP ones and my understanding is that those were repowered with a single more modern engine so the sound is not the same.
