Did the Clinchfield ever wash its locomotives? I rarely see images of them clean. Was it just impossible to keep them clean due to the terrain and traffic?

In a given run they probably spent more time in tunnels than any other railroad. No they almost never washed them.

The photo is good, but the summary in "Remarks & Notes" is pure poetry. Well done! The words always matter as much as the images.
