We have a winner!!!! This may be the best heritage unit yet.
Posted by Brent Kneebush on May 23, 2012
I was in Muncie today, I surely didn't see this!
Posted by Nathan Lafond on May 23, 2012
Now thats sharp! I like this scheme, it looks good on the ACe.

Wait for it... go ahead and comment away guys!

This one will really stand out. Wow, nice!!!

You guys do good work! Again ... well done.

WOW! That looks fantastic!

Looks great NS! Best one yet. I now have two favorites. Pennsy and Reading. Wish NS still ran through my hometown, both railroads ran through town.
Posted by Caleb Keefer on May 23, 2012
Just noticed, they even put the "Safety Always" in the stairwell. Top Notch!
Posted by Matt Wiles on May 23, 2012
Timeless. ACe's have the lines for heritage schemes.
Posted by Chase Gunnoe on May 23, 2012
Beautiful! One of the best yet..
Posted by Renee on May 23, 2012
My new favorite! Splendid, spectacular and a few other similar words.
Posted by cavranger on May 23, 2012
If NS would team this motor up with the GP30 and ALCO C630 from the RHS, we'd all be happy.
Posted by on May 23, 2012
Sensational! Long live the Reading.
Posted by Cristiano Oliveira on May 23, 2012
There is no way to pick up a favorite... all EMD's heritage are perfect! Well... they are perfect for it self just to be an EMD xD!
Posted by on May 23, 2012
Now this IS a winner! Bright colors that match...not dull or dark like others. Decent nose logo as well. This one, the Southern unit, and the Central Of Gerogia are the TOP three!
Posted by Mitch Goldman on May 23, 2012
Wow - every thought going through my head has been well echoed here! Best one yet, as if they never left us. This one will bring a tear to any Reading fan. Can't wait to catch it in person. Way to go, NS!
Posted by Jake McGarvie on May 23, 2012
NS: I can't believe the sight of these new girlfriends that you have been giving me lately. This ACe is the prettiest one at the ball.

Drrroooooooollllllling! This is an awesome unit. Great Job Casey! I cant wait until it comes out as a model will be gettin this one for sure!
Posted by Joe Musolf on May 23, 2012
I remember seeing someone make a custom model of a Dash 8 or Dash 9 in Reading colors, just like this one, in Model Railroader in the mid 90s. Very cool to see this paint scheme applied to modern power!
Posted by cmdrflake on May 23, 2012
Unlike some of the heritage units, this one is the most plausable. If the Reading had been able to right itself, one of their SD70ACe's would have looked like this.
Posted by Tom Keeping on May 23, 2012
Exquisitely awesome! As a guy who lived in Lansdale, PA, for a couple of years during the early 1970's, this is above and beyond my wildest dreams! Now if this beauty could just pull BX-24 up the Stony Creek Branch one night...
Posted by Frank Shimkets on May 23, 2012
EXCELLENT!!!
Posted by Scott Markloff on May 24, 2012
Now that's what I've been waiting for. We need to get this one together with the Pennsy the LV units.
Posted by Nigel Curtis on May 24, 2012
Quite simply - the best yet
Posted by John Sweigert on May 24, 2012
Oh my Gosh! The nail has been hit on the head with this unit. Mark, you said it right; this may be the best one yet. Very colorful and very striking. They did their homework on this one and have done the "Reading" and it's past employees proud. A job well done. Keep up the great work Norfolk Southern. Your allowing Steam Excursions again with the #630 and the #765 and now have introduced the Heritage Units.

I like all the heritage locos but I knew this would be the best looking one!
Posted by Bryan Jones on May 24, 2012
WOW, they did a fantastic job on this unit! This is by far my favorite heritage unit of those released to date.
Posted by J. C. Smith, Jr. on May 24, 2012
Among all the wonderful comments posted above, this is the most perfectly-lit builder's photo I've ever seen, no detail is unseen!
Posted by Joel Hinkhouse on May 24, 2012
Agreed on all the comments above. This is a smashing heritage unit ... this makes me want to pressure NS to put out a dozen of these, with the dreams of a complete Reading ACe lashup. I did not expect it from the drawings, but I think this unit is the most appealing ... so far!

By far the best of the lot! Thanks for sharing Casey.

There are 38 comments already ahead of mine as I write this gushing on about how beautiful this paint scheme is, and I can't agree more with them! Just beautiful! The Savannah & Atlanta or this, I'll take both.
Posted by Chuck Schwesinger on May 24, 2012
That is truly FANTASTIC! A huge thank you once again NS.
Posted by FSWood on May 24, 2012
Man is that ever one handsome machine; fuel tank looks almost waxed, won't for long though!

EXTREMELY sharp!
Posted by SD90MACH on May 26, 2012
I love you NS!! Keep 'em comin'!
Posted by Lawman823 on May 26, 2012
So far this one the best w/NYC running a close second. Thanks NS
Posted by BelDelDreamer on May 28, 2012
imho, the SD70 ACE's are gnarly looking units, very lumpy, but I continue to be amazed at how perfect these heritage paint jobs look on these new units. My favorite is still the LV unit though.
Posted by Nathan M. Kuhn on September 21, 2013
IMO, this is one pretty unit. The stripes on the front end plow are a good representation for safety. Hats off to all at the Muncie paint shop!
