I've never been to New York City other than a brief stop at an airport. This photo reawakens my desire to visit New York- big, bustling, old but interesting and colorful in its own way. Nice shot showing the city, trains and life on the move.

I like this photo so much I'm at a complete loss for words! Fanfreekingtastic! So few have managed so well in capturing an aspect of Mew York as you have here. Superb!

I love urban shots, and this is absolutely outstanding! I gotta ask, did you get harassed in anyway because you were taking pictures of trains in an extremely camera unfriendly city?

Thanks for this photo, Chris. I often commute on Metro-North into and out of NYC but I never get a chance to see my 'ride' from this vantage point...well, never, until now. Thanks.

I was last in NY in 2000 and when I did some photography I never had any problems. I did GCT and Hoboken and everyone was friendly and helpful. I presume 9/11 has changed all that, bit like here in the UK where if you point a camera at a train, you can be classed as a terrorist by some over zealous jobs worth. I love New York and I love the New Haven and remember in 2000 seeing the New Haven FL9 at GCT. Great urban shot, I love it.

Excellent urban shot! I have been to NY but this shot makes me want to go back..... PCA from me.

Honestly, the New Haven scheme is the whole reason that this photo looks as good as it does. If it was some dark dismal colored unit leading, how would we get the mood of the photo distinguished? Hats off Chris for a job well done.

For what it's worth, the New York MTA (along with NJT) has a policy explicitly permitting photography from its station platforms.

Wow....dark and moody....it earns it's nickname of Gotham City with this one. Well done Chris, well done.

I just love the EMU seemingly disappearing down the track like its a rollercoaster. Great Pic.

The ability to capture miles of scenery and forcing the perspective to seem like just mere blocks is phenomenal. All with no pixelation, graininess or focus. The subject matter helps, too! Impressive!
