Nicely done shot! And yes Chris, for sure, very sad news today about the Apache. Now it would be nice for a railfan millionaire to step in and save this operation just for the posterity of it........we can dream can't we?

Very nice Chris. I really enjoyed this day and now even more so. Thanks for the reminder.

That's terrible news Chris. I wonder if the Alcos will end up in Arkansas?

Needs to make some calls, I bet many railroads will take these locomotives!

It's so sad to hear an entire railroad is going to disappear forever. I'm heading there next week from Colorado to see it. I'll bet this is how it kinda felt when Tennessee Pass closed.

This mornings Arizona Republic (Aug 01) had an item hinting a group of investors from Phoenix are interested in buying the mill. Let's hope it becomes fruitful. Gene

Sad news. But just out of curiosity, what does a recycling operation do with tons of coal? Those are very handsome locos.

The mill has its own power plant, thus the unit coal trains.

Thanks for the info. Is hauling coal to that power plant the only operation for the Apache RR?

Nice catch Chris. Sad news about the line's closure. Would sure make for a nice new Apache steam tourist line.

Great shot. Do those Apache locomotives have air conditioners in the cabs? Seems like it would be unbearably hot out there in the desert.

Excuse my late post, Chris; very nice depth of field mastery! The wood really makes this shot. Excellent work, Chris.
