I remember reading somewhere that the SD80MACs on the WC for testing. I guess the WC was interested in buying them but the CN merger probably stopped any chance of that happening.

WC only used them one winter to haul ore trains from Superior to Escanaba MI and there was no serious interest in purchasing them outright from CSX. WC did pay to have the GE Harris Distributed Power system installed and placed one 80MAC on the head-end and one 2/3rds a way back on trains that were using vintage CNW ore cars to eliminate manned helpers. The next winter WC went back to using manned helpers on these trains that stayed on all the way to Escanaba.
