Wild! Is there a license plate on the engine that says "My other car is a Chevy?" Great catch, great setting, beautiful day. Sad to hear the days are numbered. Thanks for sharing. Just love that you captured the engine alone street running with other cars.

Thanks for posting the picture, I did not know there was any rail activity still on Mare Island. It will be interesting to see if there will be any industrial activity left on Mare island in a few years.

What a shame! Must be one of the only such locations in the world that exemplifies... uh... Bridge Running?

As a 'squid' who did nearly 3 years at NSA Mare Island in 1978-1980, I can't tell you what this picture means to me. I can remember shooting the Navy Girfinks (critters) that roamed the shipyard. Once I caught one coming down past the Marine guard shack...too bad that all of that is now just History. If you did nearly a 180, you would see the old NSA HQ that was my duty station. Nothing like pulling a duty on Tug Dispatch watch and have a sub come in at 0245. Ah the memories...thanks for sharing this fantastic shot with us, Ron!
