Something very similar happened to me, Mike. However, I had been set up waiting for Amtrak's Pere Marquette on a sunny morning in the summer of 2000, as it made the daily trek from Grand Rapids to Chicago. After a lengthy delay, I finally heard a horn off in the distance. I got ready for my shot and to my surprise as it rolled into the scene, it was the Postal train. Unfortunately I was a bit of a novice at the time with a 35mm film camera, so my image didn't turn out nearly as nice as yours. It's still a good memory I will never forget though.
