Sharp!

What's it going to be testing for? Has something been changed besides the paint? This is the scheme that the standard cab H3 units have been getting painted in for several years now. Odd that they chose to paint a widenose in it. Looks pretty good though with less yellow on it.

Yeah, I'm not sold on it. Maybe a solid consist of them would look OK, but you could put silver trucks under just about anything and make it look pretty good.

Mark, I do not have information on exactly what tests this engine will be doing. This paint scheme is very much like the H3 paint on the standard cab EMDs. But unlike the standard cab motors, this engine has the yellow striping across the top of the nose like H1 Dash 9's did and the H1 standard cab EMD's.( (BNSF 8131 also has this, Photo ID 424438).

Would someone please elaborate on why crews wouldn't want this, and what is meant by 'heavy cabbed'?

The paint seems to be getting more like Milwaukee Road than Great Northern. Not bad, but I wish they had kept the green rather than black.

I don't know, I like this scheme better then the normal widecab paint, looks good to me.

Heavy cabbed answer... No one liked to be in the wide cab GP 60. The heavy cab made for a miserable ride, unlike the standard cab GP 60 which most considered to be the best riding four axle ever built (at least as far as any Santa Fe employee).

A test emissions kit has been applied and it needs to be tested in road service to achieve the desired data. In addition, it has been de-rated to 3000HP, down from its original 3600HP. As for the comments about the cab, the wide nose made the GP60Ms nose-heavy and thus the ride quality at speed is poor. BNSF has changed the way it chooses which paint scheme to apply. Before it was wide cab vs. standard cab, now they've decided to paint based on road service vs. yard/local service.

All BNSF engines should be painted in this scheme. I never liked H2 or H3.

I didn't think BNSF owned the GP60Ms still. I swear, I thought they would be in the hands of shortlines by now. But that's mostly because, I haven't seen any in Illinois...ever.

I've seen so many color schemes on the BNSF...it's hard to make a judgement. But, some of these engines are lookin' so great that I'd rather ride in them than a new Corvette. A beauty!!

Not only did BNSF 100 got repainted in H3 paint, it also got an electronic bell, that's good =).
