Rich, you are not quite right. The design of soviet series such TE1 (TEM1, TEM2) was based on RS-1 and RSD-1, which were delivered to USSR in period of Second World War by the Lend-Lease. But TGM4 is an independent soviet model with a different mode of operation and hydromechanical transmission.
