No canon fixed during the shipment ... I like those things

I love the military loads. That does not appear to be an M1 tank. It appears to be some kind of specialized vehicle on an M1 Chassis. The commanders coupola is clearly not in the position for an M1 tank. Does anyone know what this really is?

Pretty sure that it's a pair of M1 Assault Breacher Vehicles
|
These are M1 Assault Breacher Vehicles (ABV) from the fertile genius of the US Marine Corps. Built on the M1 chassis, the ABV is designed to fire a mine clearing line charge across a mine field to clear a path for advancing Marines. The rear deck of the turret opens upward for the system to aim and fire downrange.

These are M1 ABV's. Assault Breacher Vehicles or Shredders. They get a big plow apparatus attached to the front for mine detonation. The pods on top of the turret contain M58 MICLICs (Mine Clearing Line Charges) to safely detonate IEDS and open paths through minefields from a safe distance. They have no main cannon. Armament is the .50 cal you see on the turret. Quite rare actually. Less than 100 are known to have been produced.

It looks like a M1 Assault Breacher Vehicle.

@Bob: Assault Breacher Vehicle (ABV) - designed for conducting in stride breaching of minefields etc. Front gear is not mounted during transport. The ABV is built on the M1A1 chassis with minor modifications.

Looks to be an M1 Assault Breacher Vehicle.

That's a M-1 Breacher. It's basically a land minesweeper.

It could be any body's guess...It is built on the standard M-1 tank chassis but the lack of a cannon mantlet (replaced with what appears to be a block of reactive armor) as well as the lack of a proper turret (replaced with what might be storage bays or even a launch mechanism for a Mine Clearing Line Charge [MCLC]) and lastly the mounting hardware on the front for what might be a mine roller or dozer blade lead me to speculate that its the next generation of breach or engineer vehicle. Only speculation of course and its too bad its not traditionally armed, other wise it truly would be a "rail gun." Great capture!

This is a "tank car" and now the DOT is looking for more Flat cars to purchase since they are falling apart according the FRA. Cool to see the Military still using trains to move stuff!
