It’s been several decades since I followed the Garratts. I’m happy to hear that some are still in use.

Hi Paul, Three Garratts are nominally available for daily shunts in Bulawayo. However much depends on the willingness of the crews to choose steam over diesel and it seems the latter win most days. There is also a 15th class in daily use at the colliery at Hwange and a 14th class is used to haul the "tea train" down to the Victoria Falls bridge and back. So, yeah, the big beasts are still out there, if taking things slowly.
