I well remember when, aged about 10 (1963 or 64), being in our family Mark 1 Cortina driving off the ferry here at the start of a French holiday, and seeing what would have been a 141R parked here at the head of a train as we did so. Equaly well I remember a school trip in 1969 involving couchettes from Boulogne to Innsbruck, and abandoning the interest posed by the girls school party at the other end of the coach (ours was a boys school!) in favour of the carriage window when I discovered to my delight we were being steam hauled! Steam in the UK had finished the year previously, and I had no idea, at that time, until that moment, that steam was still active in France. Our 141R took us as far as Hazebrouck, an hour or so inland.
