Great shot. I photographed a diesel like this in Tirgu Mures in 1973, and it was painted just as in your 1997 photo. Are these units still in service?

This was the standard paint scheme for these locomotives for the state railways and for the industrial or foreign operators who didn't specify otherwise. On some the line was white instead of yellow, and the visibility stripes at the ends were red and yellow, red and white, or blue and yellow. All CFR narrow gauge lines having ceased operation, many diesels were scrapped, others purchased by a company and stored for repairs and resale at Brad. They remain in regular active service with the mining company in the Pietrosita area, Dambovita county and in somewhat regular service with the logging company at Viseul de Sus. 3 CFR units (17, 41 and 47) remain in storage at Tirgu Mures depot, waiting for better days, while numbers 3 and 7 have been transported to Comandau, Covasna, with plans to restore them when funds are available. Units of the same type remain in use in Hungary (known as Mk45) and Poland (Lxd2).
