This accident happened on Super Bowl Sunday in 1984 at Bakersfield, CA. The train was the YUOAT. The train lost control coming into Bakersfield colliding with an eastbound train that was departing the yard and crossing over to the eastbound main track. Fortunately, no fatalities but the two crew members on the lead unit suffered some pretty serious injuries.

J. Moller, I can tell you that was NOT the cause of this collision/derailment. I know as I was just one of the people to investigate this accident. I know that you're just repeating what you have read.
