Thanks for the history lesson on the train symbols used then. They are making a comeback on this line now it appears.

Also very unusual to have a GP9 (or any first generation diesels) on this train. Primary exceptions were WP/GA geeps sometimes added in Atlanta along with a cut of cars and caboose that tagged along as far as Montgomery (213 continued to NOLA). Equipped with a steam generator, GP9 513 is pretty unusual all on its own. Built as a GP7 in 1953, it was rebuilt by EMD to GP9 standards after a 1957 wreck.
