Annie's distinctive caboose stylng is a holdover from the railroad's years under Wabash Railroad control. The railroad's logo in those days echoed Wabash's "Follow the Flag" emblem. But the Ann Arbor – in a nod to its Lake Michigan ferry service – substituted Wabash's flag with a marine pennant.
