Great shot Mike. I passed this bridge 2-3 times in the 1980s (still ICG then I think) and thought it was a terrific spot.

Thank you for posting this. I'd moved from Illinois before this happened and had always wondered when IHR went down. This former IC line was part of the Peoria Division that ran southeast through Decatur, Mattoon, Newton, Olney and on into Evansville. A middle portion of the line from Mattoon to Newton (where IC's Indianapolis to Effingham line crossed) was abandoned in 1982. The tracks from Newton to Evansville were abandoned after IHR closed down. A little sad to visit my grandparents' hometown (Newton) and see this line all gone.

There's a small portion of this line left from Mattoon out to a grain elevator south east of town towards Lerna. The elevator used to have an SD7 or 9 as their switcher but I didn't see it when I was there last year.
