Dennis, what is on the front of this locomotive....the object that looks like a radiator? Thanks for this beautiful photograph.

Tom, you are correct in ascertaining that the structure on the front deck is a radiator. On each side of the radiator is a Westinghouse cross-compound air pump as well. As you may be aware, compressing air generates a great deal of heat. So what better place to place the radiator then on the front of a speeding locomotive to cool off the air system.
