Really nice photo and summary, Joe. As a former Winchester, KY resident, I remember Avon when it was in full swing. I'm glad that RJ Corman now operates the "Old Road" and that the line hasn't met the same sad fate as the nearly parallel Lexington Sub that once carried the C&O George Washington passenger train.
