The locomotive is listed as being an E8 not and E9 (built as SLSF 2007) but its interesting that it has that type of number boards. Does anyone know anything about that? Also check out the turboliner in the background!

L&N applied those numberboards after they acquire the unit from the Frisco. They also replaced the side panels on most the E units late in their operating life which got rid of the portholes. Amtrak followed this practice and gave many of their Es the blank side treatment.
