While both locomotives look nice, that Pacific sure does have a nice streamlined look to her!

Interestingly the reason for UK Southern Railway Pacific classes of locomotives having the boiler clad in such a way was not to make them look "streamlined", many of these locomotives were built under war time austerity (and thus such frills would have been frowned upon) but so that the locomotives cladding could be cleaned for the best part by being passed through existing mechanical carriage (passenger car) washing plants.

Thanks for the war time background information about shrouding on the 4-6-2 Jerry E. The 'carriage' look makes her look sharp with nice lines.
