Nice shot! But, I believe the phrase you're looking for is, the conductor "tied on to" the tank car. :)

Thanks for correction on the terminology, John! I corrected my remarks using the present tense. Hopefully I didn't botch that up :) I'm sure it's obvious from my submissions, but I'm nothing more than a causal railfanner, so I appreciate the insight!

No problem, sometimes as railroaders we use some pretty strange terms, for example, a coupling is often referred to as a "joint." It's hard to discern where they came from, most terms are over a century old...
