There are not too many pictures of these guys doing what they were built to do, pull passenger trains. That's because they were purchased only 3.5 years before Amtrak Day.

In a way it makes sense for the passenger train to take the siding - it can stop and start in less time than heavy freight trains do; and the heavier the freighter, the greater the time difference in getting back up to track speed.

As for the just two units comment, think of it this way - Those two were good for 7,200hp, almost the same as five F7s, which was pretty typical power for this train before the F45s took over.
