CLASSIC (now) shot of what was once probably a more-or-less daily occurance. Maybe its my "northeast - centric" upbringing, BUT, there is just something "SO RIGHT" about having an Alco RS leading a passenger train, especially running long-hood forward.

Interesting to note in this photo - those F's are painted in a certain style that looks oddly familiar...Ahh, now I know - the current Norfolk Southern F's are painted in the exact same scheme. I thought the Southern Railway was Green and White?
