very cool picture. They were doing this same exact thing on a stretch of track just outside Bellevue Michigan. I saw smoke and wondered what was going on. This photo explains it well. Thank-you. PCA for sure.

Is CWR particularly susceptible to this happening? What breaks? The bolts in the rail joint or the rails themselves? Seems like all the gaps in jointed rail would be take up much of the contraction/expansion.
