I have always preferred the three equal stripes, have to wonder on the safety aspect of the black nose though.

From what I've gathered from several sources, all the P32's will get this paint scheme, and eventually the P42's will as well

I agree! I would probably pay more attention to Amtrak if this was there regular paint.

Here is a great illustration of how to tell a P32 from a P42: the two square grills mounted high at the rear don't appear on the P42s.
