The 3 equal-width, wide, stripes has ALWAYS, at least in my opinion, been Amtrak's BEST paint scheme. Yes, it costs $$, but it would present a really sharp, professional, appearance IF the cars also matched. Humorous how "Everything old is new again."

Very cool to hear that these are getting repainted! I agree that these look great in the Phase III paint as well.

I wish they would not put the service emblem on the sides. Once it gets moved to another train then it does not make sense. Amtrak is broke yet they cannot just paint a locomotive and leave it a basic nice paint job. Put the service emblem on the from on hangers like they used to do in Streamliner days.

The units used in Amtrak's Empire Service are kept pretty much in that service and held close at hand because of their special electrical equipment that allow them to run on the third-rail electrical power pickup into Penn Station NY, much like the New Haven FL-9s were "supposed to do" when operating into Grand Central Terminal.

CNW4007, the P32AC-DMs stay strictly on the Empire Corridor bevlcause there are only 18 of them and they were purposely purchased for running into NYP. It is extremely rare to find one anywhere else.
