In the 80s and 90s, that grain elevator became the actual Amtrak station for the Gulf Breeze. Now it's a bar!

You would think that there is enough traffic to support a Chicago/Florida train. But then again, they did end up calling it the Floridian Flop for as often as it left the track.

Photo indicates the deferred maintenance that was building up in the pre-Staggers days. Weeds & minimal ballast.
