Nice image, Mike. We drove along this stretch last spring for the first time since 1987. My moping just about ruined our vacation.

Great take on contemporary Minturn.

Beautiful photo - of such a sad scene! Well done Mr. Mike Danneman. Curiosity makes me ask: I wonder if the signals are still powered and should someone connect the circuit with a piece of metal - if they'd activate and notify a dispatcher somewhere? :-)

When was this track abandoned

I've said it before, but you would think the railroad would have found some use for the old signals and rails, etc. at least sell the scrap metal. Somebody else I guarantee will try to harvest the metal and/or any copper wiring maybe getting injured in the process.

Not the garden railroad that I wanted to see here.

Technically Union Pacific never abandoned the Tennessee Pass line as a main line route they just moth balled it for future use. But since no revenue freight has been across the line in nearly 20 years chances of it being used as a main line route again is next to never

The line has not been abandoned. It is out of service since it is not needed at current traffic levels.

The line is just moth balled in case something were to happen to the Moffat Tunnel. I heard the line still gets inspected.
