What do you mean G scale? That's a garden model railroad scale! Our trains are much smaller than US loading gauge with one route not able to take hi cube containers single stack. But they aren't that small! The old coupling type is being mostly replaced by AAR types for KiwiRail trains.

Easy now! I'm sure the trains down that way are of quite respectable stature. I was simply commenting on the coupler itself. I've never noticed one quite like that.
I'll have to go to NZ myself and see one of these days. Might be a week or two...
