I wonder if that staining aft tells us that the radiator fan draft pulls the diesel exhaust down a bit then in to radiator louvers before pushing it up through radiator. And then, though I don't know about the loco class, cab front and windshield appearance brings to mind the chop nose GPs such as Western Maryland's GP9s, so I'm wagering this unit originally had a high short hood. Now, off to look and see if that thought has any validity!
