"Ooh, look at that - there's the Mount Washington Cog Railway up ahead!" And then they arrive after passing two steam engines to find out their power for the climb up the hill is NOT a steam engine after all, but a "biodiesel". Hopefully, travelers enticed by the displays will arrive to find they've arrived the select days that steam is operated. It's a nice display, however. Thanks for sharing!

Interesting that she is not displayed with either the name or the paint scheme with which she finished her career. In her last operating days, she wore the classier black and gold paint, and carried the name "Kroflite." This loco is also interesting because she was one of only two that had the cab on the same plane as the boiler. The other is the still-operational #9 "Waumbek." I believe that the railway has only 4 intact steam engines left on the property (2, 3, 6 and 9). Of those, I believe that only the 2 and the 9 are maintained in operable condition. With regard to Mitch's comment about steam operations, the railroad typically schedules the first trip each day with steam. All other trips are typically planned to run with one of the 5 diesel units. There are no "steam days" per se. We can dream.... Thanks for posting, Aaron!
