I am trying to orient myself in this photo. It appears to be looking at the Pgh Strip District & the Upper Hill District (where the Blue Water tower is located). The photo is taken from Troy Hill looking across Herr's Island in the Allegheny River at 33rd Street. I think this is correct.

Former B&O P&W Sub which CSX has leased to the AVR and B&P. In the 60's the line was double track from Schenley Tunnel to New Castle. FY Tower was bolted to the bridge structure about 30 car lengths East of the bridge - Train pictured is heading B&O Westbound (geographically North in the picture).

William, you are correct. The view is compass south/southeast. We're looking at the easternmost part of the Strip with the border with Lawrenceville. By the way, the bridge that branches off of this bridge in the left hand part of the photo will be getting a major overhaul in the latter part of Summer 2016. Part of the work involves lessening the curvature.
