To get a glimpse of the future of high speed rail in the US - just look back some 40+ years! The good old days, when America was sending astronauts to the Moon and the first SST's were being built. As of 2016, the train pictured above remains the CURRENT North American high speed rail record holder for a commercial production built train topping out at 170.8 mph through Princeton Junction, NJ on December 20th, 1967. Thanks for sharing a piece of "history"!

Very nice shot- thanks for uploading! I remember watching a detailed report about these trains on the Huntley-Brinkley report, but I never got to see one in person. The color in this scan is excellent.

How did the crew enter & exit the cab?

The crew entered & exited through the same side doors that the passengers used. As I recall, the side windows in the "cab" didn't open either. I believe there was an emergency exit that went down a short set of stairs and out through the openable front "clamshell" doors.

Boy that brings back memories. I rode the train from Providence to New York Penn Station in 1974 or 1975, and was lucky to catch the Turbo. Better yet, I rode the front, closest to the engineer... great memory!!! Thanks for posting.
