Here is more proof that locomotive salvage has little in common with automotive salvage. Around here [west Texas], headlights and windshields are among the first items that an auto salvage yard pulls for resale. There must not be any value to the railroads for used headlights & windshields - or number boards either.

Every locomotive has a life. This one had a "born date", a "retirement date", and then a "burial date" with a whole lot of history in between. Sometimes, its the dismemberment and return to nature stage that is particularly haunting. A million obscure questions hang unanswered about this unit.
