I don't know, I'd take the diesels. (Of course, I'm sure I'm the only one)

Fair for the N&W and was great for us for a few years but not enough of them !!

Wonder if they'll try the same stunt with 2156?

It great seeing a GP9 high hood long hood forward. Wonderful picture, Doug.

Yes the VMT did act like a-holes to put it lightly, but in the end it was probably a good thing they kept 1218 hostage. If they didn't the engine probably would have never gotten to operate and its'condition probably would have deteriorated like many of Steamtown's other pieces.

I'm not trying to indict the NS or VMT, just point out that a couple of dirty, well-worn EMD's seem like meager compensation for the Mercedes of Steam. I enjoyed seeing 1218 under steam as much as anyone, but consider that when the NS steam program abruptly halted, the 1218, in the middle of an overhaul, was sent to VMT missing parts, severely decreasing its chances of ever feeling a fire on its grates. Had it been returned to Steamtown, it may be deteriorated, but it would be complete, meaning that there could be hope for seeing it attack Pocono Summit.
