The loads look interesting. It's common to see brand new stuff being shipped on the railroad, but some old stuff like this here is pretty uncommon.

In my estimation the EMD SDP45s looked better in E-L colors. Conrail Blue doesn't make the unit although I have always preferred Conrail over any other railroad since its break up.

This "connection" personifies Conrail's "cheapskate" mentality. This is essentially part of Conrail's main line into the NYC/Northern NJ terminals. They should have rebuilt both tracks. This type of "patched together," neutered railroad is why current owner Norfolk Southern reportedly is "unhappy with the speed" on the "Penn Line" (of which this is a part).
