I find it interesting that none of the pieces have connector bar holes at the ends.

Not 'stick rail' per se. But cut up continuous (previously welded) rail. To be 'real' stick rail it needs to have bolt holes drilled for the angle bars that connect the rails together.

Some heavy duty wear on some of those pieces! Let me guess - Nippon Steel (which BN was fond of using for cost "advantage")? Old saying - "You get what you pay for."
