There is still a section of this line in operation, between Girard Il, (where the CNW junctioned with the old GM&O), and Staunton Il., (Where it junctioned with the N&W/NS). This redaction was being used for coal movements, and is still in place. I don't believe there's a whole lot of action anymore. NS used this track for access to the mine in Gillespie, while UP used it (rarely) for access to the mines around Girard and Farmersville.

Great picture. Just north of the bridge is a 5.5 mile bike/walking path. They are currently in the process of extending it north 6 miles across the Sangamon River, the plan is to eventually get to Athens. There have also been discussions of extending it south across this bridge all the way to Girard.
