Why so pessimistic? According to most recent news, PIR filed for bankruptcy and entered into an agreement with Baja Rail to sublease the line. Baja is expected to reconstruct the line from Coyote Wells to Mexico. I really hope this becomes real, it would be great to see this amazing railroad operating again.

Yes, and "[a]ccording to most recent news[,]" Hillary Clinton was supposed to win the 2017 election by a landslide - your mileage may vary.

Nice shot. Are there any current shots of the east portal of tunnel 16?

Yes, stay tuned.

I'd love to bring a rail cart down there. I'd probably bring an air compressor/tank setup for my horn. Evidently, a second air operated device might come in handy, that being a jack hammer. Then again I question the safety of going here at all if boulders are frequently flying down the mountains.

Unfortunately I think Roco is correct, the line is in such poor shape it would take many millions (I think 100 million dollars) of dollars to get the line back in service and in decent enough shape to run trains at a reasonable speed. Even if that was possible the line is such a round about way with so many curves I don't think it would ever be profitable enough to make it worth the expense.
