If I'm not mistaken, 8888 was the last Dash-9 on the NS roster to have the standard cab.

Heck, to SOME of us, C40s and SD-90s are "NEW" power !

NS regularly replaces the cabs in its rebuild program. Noting the temporary lifting lugs and the fact that the cab doesn't show evidence of being torch cut from the frame I suspect the Dash 9 is being rebuilt.

Realizing 'many great years of service' is a relative term, I'm surprised to see that accolade allotted to the SD90MAC. They were rife with performance and maintenance issues, with many units ending their careers much earlier than originally expected. Awesome-looking beasts, though!
