A 6' tall man is needed to show the scale of this photograph. Are these old prime movers beyond being able to to re-use again?

These are useless old GE FDL-16 engines out of most likely ex-CSX Dash 7's. They have no practical use.

For parts? For scrap? For rebuilding?

Judging by the fat exhaust silencers these look more like Dash 8 engines to me. And since the stacks are capped, I would guess that NRE has some plan for them (or a plan for their parts/components), otherwise they would've been scrapped by now.

They have not scrapped any Dash 8's yet. So it's highly unlikely they are out of a dash 8. They have however, scrapped dozens of ex-CSX dash 7's. I also don't see any evidence that the stacks are capped. Used GE prime movers have little to no resale value on the used market.

Zoom in on the photo, Troy. The stacks are capped. I'll concede that these could in fact be from late production B36-7s or C36-7s when GE was just starting to use the bigger exhaust silencers. I think you'll find there is still demand for these in non-US countries. NRE does a lot of business outside the US.
